Ella is a filmmaker and performer with a background in comedy. A 2021 grad of the VCA’s Master of Film and Television (Directing - Narrative), her graduate film We Never Asked for This was selected for MIFF 2022 (Accelerator Lab), and was awarded the Stephen Ho Filmmaking Bursary. She has worked as a producer and AD on shorts and music videos selected for MIFF and MWFF, and as a production designer for Stupid Old Studios.

 

She’s one part of comedy trio Big Big Big, who created The Candyman (2021), a six-part audio series featured on NPR, CBC/Radio-Canada and ABC Radio Melbourne, as well as being nominated for an Australian Podcast Award. The trio also wrote and performed live show Catching Jack across 2021 – 2022, running seasons at MICF and the Adelaide Fringe. The trio currently have a web series in development, funded by Screen Australia and produced by Haven’t You Done Well Productions.

As a performer, recent credits include singing backing vocals for Robbie Williams at his 2022 Rod Laver Arena shows – shooting for his biopic Better Man (dir. Michael Gracey), actor/musician roles in Twelfth Night with Melbourne Shakespeare Company (2019) and Much Ado About Nothing with Artefact Theatre Company (2019). She has trained in improvised comedy with the UCB, The Groundlings, TIC and LMA, and performed in the 2018 Del Close Marathon in NYC. She composed for and edited Big Big Big’s podcast, and writes and gigs with her band Tuckshop.
